Hello!

Hi my name is Mike Youmans, and I’m one of the new student activities interns with the Office of Student Union and Involvement! I’m really excited about the internship and to playing a bigger role in student life here at Longwood. I am 22 years old, a senior, and a Communication Studies major, concentrating in Mass Media. I’m planning on taking up a minor in Psychology. I’m not too sure what I want to do with the rest of my life, but I think it will be something involving my fields of study.

I’m really excited about some of the things that are going on this semester. For one, Orca TV will be coming to our campus soon, and this will allow student organizations to produce and star in their own commercials advertising their group. This is an innovative approach unlike anything done before at Longwood. I’m excited to see how it all plays out, and what people come up with.

Another cool thing that I’ll be working on for my internship is Spring Weekend. I’m going to help plan the Chili Cook-off, as well as helping plan the booths for the organizations. It’s going to be a really fun semester, and I’m looking forward to playing a bigger part of the student body.
